Some of you guys may notice this... Skai has always suffered from acne scars. Even when I first met him about 11 years ago, he had very bad acne and scars back then.

He shared that he has suffered from acne and scarring since his schooling days. He has tried plenty of products but most of them do not work. From medication to pimple creams, he felt that nothing really helped.

I first found out suitable treatments for Skai's acne scars courtesy of William from MyFatPocket. He shared that he had suffered from acne scars back then and recommended the treatments he had undergone.

We were recommended to Dr Justin Boey from Sozo Aesthetics for a consultation.

The clinic

SozoAesthetics-34

Sozo Aesthetics is conveniently located at One Raffles Place Singapore. Staff were very friendly and professional.

SozoAesthetics-27

I had tagged along with Skai for his appointment and had brought Davina however she started fussing during the consultation and one of the nurses helped to coax her. Super grateful to them! <3

The consultation

SozoAesthetics-2

Dr Justin was very friendly. He was also very frank and shared that Skai's condition was quite serious. His scarring was quite deep and one session would not be suitable. A few different treatments was recommended to Skai and it would take plenty of sessions to see results especially for his condition.

SozoAesthetics-5

Skai and I was very comfortable with Dr Justin and we agreed to proceed.

The suggested treatments

Dr Justin assessed Skai's condition and recommended these treatments to us:

SozoAesthetics-71

    • Fractional CO2 Laser - This treatment produces thousands of tiny microthermal zones in the treated areas where the laser targets the scarred areas and old collagen, but also leaves areas of healthy tissue to regenerate through collagen production.

SozoAesthetics-58

    • Subcision Filler - Subcision was done with Rejuran S Filler. Subcision specifically treats depressed scars by releasing fibrotic tissues that are responsible for pulling down the skin and creates the indentation. A tiny, hypodermic needle is inserted into the skin which will then be moved back and forth in a fanning pattern while the sharp edges of the needle cut the fibrotic scar tissues. The needle is removed circumferentially around the exit to evacuate any excess blood and to minimise haematoma formation in the area. The scar will continue to heal and stimulate more collagen production.

Day2-15

Day3-14

  • INFINI Laser Solution - This treatment is used to deliver RF energy, which in turn helps volumize scar tissue. It combines the thermal power of radiofrequency with microneedling.

The combination of these treatments were recommended to help improve Skai's scars. We recommended to try this for 3 sessions first. Each session will happen once monthly. But of course, 3 sessions is not enough to completely heal Skai's skin. This is for us to assess if we are comfortable with the treatments and for us to consider more sessions in future.

The experience

We have gone thru the 3 sessions so far. Honestly, we are very comfy with the clinic and Dr Justin. For every session, Skai would have his skin cleansed and numbing cream will be applied before treatment commences.

Painwise, Skai said he doesn't feel anything at all. Numbing cream rocks! The only after effects were that his face looked a bit sunburnt the next few days but it faded quickly.

Our thoughts

I do see some slight improvement. His scars do not look as deep as previously. However, I do agree with Dr Justin that Skai has many more sessions to go if he would like to have smooth skin. After all, it took years for these scars to form, it won't be possible to improve miraculously. Thank you Dr Justin and Sozo Aesthetics for the experience!

Hopefully Skai can achieve baby smooth skin like Davina's in due time!

This is just our honest and true thoughts. For more information on how to get effective acne scar treatments in Singapore, check out Sozo Aesthetics.

As a full time working mother, I hardly have time for myself. Coupled with the fact that Aidan is sticky, and I'm a clingy mama, I hardly find time to blog, exercise or elaborate skincare routines. It’s really tough being a working mother. In addition to being a mother – which is tough enough as is! – I’m also working at the same time.

When I do things such as head out for a dinner with girlfriends or out for a yoga class, I'll feel extremely guilty leaving Aidan behind with my husband/mother-in-law/mother. It feels like I'm neglecting him to enjoy, you know?

Same goes with say blogging at home or taking time to do elaborate skincare routines. When Aidan sees me and if I'm not attending to him, he tends to cry badly. Especially now that he is teething. He is extremely cranky.

I'm not complaining, I enjoy every moment with him. Just that, I hardly have time for myself. But yet, I feel 'sad' that I no longer have time for myself. My skin, nails and hair has taken such a backseat as compared to last time. I never ever had my roots grow out back then nor have I ever not indulged in a good mask weekly. Working late nights and staying up late for baby has worsened my eye bags and dark eye circles. I also find that my frown lines have deepened – this must be because I’m under constant stress and worries most of the time.

Now? I touch up my hair like once in 3 months? (in comparison to every 3 weeks back then) and I have not seen a facial mask since I gave birth. I mean, how the heck can I ever find time to lie back and relax for a good twenty minutes? LOL. I also feel that my skin has looked a tad worse for wear these days. 🙁

The kind folks from QV and Nuffnang sent over their latest range of products for both Aidan and I.

You've probably noticed QV skincare in your favourite pharmacy. The Australia made product is specially formulated to cleanse and moisturise normal, dry or sensitive skin. QV’s range of gentle cleansers and moisturisers won’t strip or dry your skin. . Using QV every day can help to protect and moisturise your skin to ensure your skin feels its best all day.

I received the Body and Face range for myself and the Baby range for Aidan.

I suffer from eczema on my back. As a result, I get very dry and rough skin whenever my eczema flares up. Most of the time, it is due to environmental issues such as the hot weather or dusty locations.

I try my best to keep my back moisturised as much as possible to prevent a flare.
