This is a Foodie Fridays TGIF! It's time to get fat on Fridays! entry under my themed blog posts! For more info about this Singapore Food themed blog posts, do read the entry here

I'm not sure if any of you guys may remember this... in 2010, I started this #mysterymakan tradition with Jacelyn, Esther and Fidelis. Each of us would take turns planning makan outings and would only reveal the address on the day itself with no other details. With the Mystery Makan tradition, we visited new places and tried new food! It’s really fun and we all look forward to our Mystery Makan sessions. Personally, I always search for nice themed cafes to showcase in this Singapore Lifestyle Blog.

This time, it was Esther's time to organise! And this has to be my favourite Mystery Makan venue that Esther has organised before!

Dear Jace brought me to Nakhon Kitchen recently! I've heard so much about the place but have never been there! Turns out they opened a branch in Bedok North and that's pretty near to where both Jace and I stay. (hahaha not that near la, but it's a few stops away!)

We waited say 15mins to get a seat. It isn't an air-conditioned place so be prepared to sweat it out. Luckily we managed to get a seat outside and it was rather cooling that day.

Pictures of us before we stuff our face!

Me! I tried braiding my fringe but failed. LOL. I loved this dress from TheBlogShop but an unfortunate incident happened earlier that day and the hem got badly torn. 🙁

Here's what we ordered. 🙂

We ordered the Thai Mango Salad (S$5), one of my personal favourites. I really like mango salads, love how they tantalise my tastebuds with the different sensations, sour, spicy and sweet!

We shared a portion of the Pineapple rice (S$6). Hmmm, I thought it was comparable to other pineapple rice sold elsewhere. i.e. didn't think it was that special.

The Tom Yum Soup (S$6) is delish. Too spicy for both Jace and I though but we were sipping away despite our tummies burning. I loved that it was full of ingredients, definitely value for money! Go for this! (But you may wanna ask them to tone it down for you :p)

I wanted to try the Kangkong (S$6) as I'm a huge Sambal Kangkong fan. It was a bit disappointing as I expected it to be spicier. Not too bad but I guessed my expectations were set too high.

We tried the Deep Fried Squid (S$10). Jace and I both felt that the squid wasn't crispy enough. Would have given it full marks if it was!

Absolutely adore the Mango Sticky Rice (S$4). <3

Overall really liked the place, good value for money, very affordable. Definitely a better experience as compared to the previous makan session at Porn's.

We girls have this tradition which I started: Surprise/secret makan outings.

Our first outing was makan at With a pinch of salt then Jacelyn brought us to some yummy Japanese teppanyaki and Esther had brought us once to steamboat and bbq!

This time, Esther organised a makan trip to Porns! Before that, we had went receeing for hotels for our Girly Staycation!

I shall begin the post with the outfit of the day!

Black dress and pink bag from TheBlogShop, leggings from AMK hub, wedges from elcheapo shop at bedok and Usagi hairband from pushcart shop at Bugis!

After bitching about missing Bangkok so much, I decided to head down to ThaiExpress. (The branch located at Heeren).

The service was extremely great that day. I once had very bad service at Thai Express Holland V. I wonder if it was due to the fact that there wasn't much of a dinner crowd that day or perhaps the service level has actually improved.

It was quite a satisfying dinner and in true nadnut style, here are the pics and my comments of each dish.

The Tom Yum Talay is like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Don't be deceived by it's clear appearance. It's even more deadlier than the red coloured Tomyum soups! Spicy and definitely satisfying. The soup was loaded with lots of seafood and mushrooms.

I had the Khao Phat Supparod Talay which is basically Pineapple Fried Rice. I was craving for rice and this definitely did not disappoint me. I absolutely adore the pineapple cubes at the side. Yums.

I think Ching Chong Boy had the Thai Beef Kway Teow. It reminded me of my favourite Pad Thai noodles that I usually order from ThaiExpress 'cept that it's beef of course. It was a tad soggy for me but he seemed to enjoy it. *shrugs*

We shared the Pla Mug Phat Khai Khem Surattani which was squid with salted egg. A weird combo but we were feeling a tad adventurous. Tasted so-so just a tad salty.

I had a zesty cooler. I can't remember what's everything inside but I do vaguely remember pineapple and some citrus stuff.  I really enjoyed this drink. It was very refreshing.

Ching Chong Boy had the mango smoothie which was delish.

We shared a serving of Red Ruby. I loved the fact that they had served it with coconut icecream. A very comforting dessert. This left me wanting for more.

I would head back to ThaiExpress but please take note, I'm giving it 4 red bull cans because it's value for money to me.
