It's been a while since my last yoga update but I have to be honest, I been rather naughty. I was so busy with wedding planning that I neglected going to Updog Studio for weeks before my wedding.
Boy did I regretted it.
I felt sluggish, bloated and cranky. Honestly speaking, yoga really calms me down. When I feel very pekchek, a good yoga lesson banishes all worries away.
Now that I'm back yoga-ing, I feel so much happier! Seriously!
A month or so ago, I brought the c(hubby) for a trial lesson at Updog Studio Big Splash. Like all the men I brought to Updog Studio previously, he had the misconception that yoga was a "stretch here stretch there" and "won't burn much unlike cardio" type of sport. The c(hubby) loves sports, he loves football, running and high impact sports. But he was up for a challenge when I told him yoga isn't how he perceived it to be.
AND of course, bribery works. :p
Let's just say a "happy wife = happy life". HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Before yoga, the mandatory meal. MUST eat the maggi mee goreng. Happy c(hubby)!
So it's been more than a month since I took up yoga at Updog Studio! I always try to get friends and colleagues to go down with me as I prefer to practice Yoga with a friend!
Technically, we do our own 'thang' but it's always more fun! Plus, you can spend time having dinner or catching up with friends!
I got some of my colleagues down one weekday to try out an one hour session of Hot 26 with me!
I have male colleagues who scoffed at the idea of Yoga. They thought that it was a 'stretch here stretch there' activity. HAHHAHAAA.
They were in for a treat that day!
With Daryl and Emily who are not first timers to Yoga. Daryl has taken up Yoga before with his sisters. Reagan and Zacky, who are avid runners, Shen who spends time at the gym with the machines, Samantha, hot mama who doesn't fancy exercise that much but yet maintains her great figure plus BFF, who you guys should recognise by now!
Time to work out!!! My top says #1 Workout. LOLOLOL.
All in one row!
With ze BFF!
Hot 26 is basically traditional Hot Yoga which incorporates 26 postures and two breathing exercises. Perfect for beginners.
The after picture.
Some of my colleagues found it really hard. The heat, coupled with stretching and coping with one's breathing may seem quite daunting and difficult for beginners. But personally to me, it's always about challenging yourself and giving 101%.
For beginners, do remember not to push yourself if you can't bear anymore. Our instructors always tell us to rest and do an easier position if needed. The heat is hard for some to bear, so always remember to control your breathing.
Till now after like more than 10 lessons, I still do the beginner poses unless I feel that I can cope. While I try pushing myself, I know my limit too.
And I love it.
I'm used to the heat now. And I enjoy my lessons tremendously.
And yes, the workout #ootds still continues.
I still find it difficult trying to master certain positions but I try my best.
Even if I can't keep my balance. LOL.
Far from perfect, far from ideal. But one day, I'll get there.
Can't master the crow 🙁
I enjoy Yoga so much that I practice it outside the studio at times...
At a girly bunkation with the girls. In jeans. WTF was I thinking?
At Phuket during our 1 year wedding anniversary.
Thank you Elaine for being my inspiration and introducing me to the world of Yoga. Running will always be my first love but Yoga is a close second.
I believe it is important to take up a sport that you enjoy. It is afterall but a lifestyle change, no?

I remembered Pamela shared with me once that sauna is a MUST before any important photoshoot. She mentioned that even the slimmest person can also suffer from water retention. I remembered her advice and I promptly visited Anti-Oxidant Centre with Ching Chong Boy a few days before my ROM.
I also tried out their hot yoga previously and it was extremely tiring! It felt good working out AND working out a good sweat!
