So... the whole ROM shebang has blown over with the last of the updates a few months ago. Friends have been asking me, what's next Nadia?

Close friends would have known this, the boy and I have always had one date in mind. Since we got engaged, we wanted to get married on 1st March 2014.

But because the date was rather far away, we decided to have our ROM on 10.11.12 and follow up the traditional banquet on 01.03.14 (GEDDIT 10 11 12 13 14!)

We've booked our dinner since January and we're going for our wedding photoshoot in Korea in May. More updates to come soon 🙂 Now we're searching for:

- AD Photographer
- AD Videographer
- AD bridal services
- Transport
- Live band
- Photobooth

Hope to be able to get some recommendations as it will really help our research! Also, if any wedding sponsors are keen, we’ll be extremely glad! Feel free to contact me if you’re keen! 😀

Thanks everyone for your recommendations!! <3 And yes, we'll be tagging all AD updates with #project1314. 😀

Received my pictures for my ROM! Crazy amount of pictures thus I decided to break it down into a few entries.

As you guys have read in my previous post, my Singapore Flyer solemnization package also includes a hotel stay in Ritz Carlton. (Hope to stay again soon! Didn't really get to enjoy the facilities as we were in a rush! Sad!)

Thanks to Malcolm, we managed to check in early. My MUA Cindy from Colorpots was reaching soon and we were starving. Had a quick meal at Greenhouse and had their buffet. I pigged out like mad, whacked all of the desserts!

When Cindy arrived and when I showed her pictures of the buffet, she mentioned that I was the first bride she knew that pigged out like mad before my wedding. Oops.

Hiccup of the day: I had forgotten to bring my camera!

Thank god for the iPhone. heh.

Some pictures of the room.

The plan was that while I had my makeup done, Ching Chong Boy would fluff up the poms from ShopMerryLove.wordpress.com

If you are gonna get married outside of the Registry of Marriage, you do have the option of customising your vows instead of using the "default" or "standard" vows. I checked with my JP, the lovely Mr Koh and he was so enthusiastic about it! He loved the idea of us writing our own vows and even suggested we do it in different languages since we're a mixed couple.

We decided to reject his kind idea because my malay cannot make it. LOL.

Here's some tips on writing your vows!

1) Don't be too long-winded.

Your guests might be bored to death if you choose to recite 100 reasons why you love your hubby/wife.

2) Be creative!

Just because some couples did it a certain way, you need not do so! Most couples recite their vows one by one e.g. the hubby recites his then the wife does but for us, (Ching Chong Boy's idea) we recited our vows line by line to each other. That way, it feels more personal, for us to recite to each other rather than chant a whole paragraph.

3) Personalise it.

Feel free to personalise it! We both added in bits of humour (let's face it, we're not the sappy lovely dovey kinds) and the whole vows screamed "nadnut" and "Ching Chong Boy".

For example, here's a line from mine: I promise to be supportive of your many activities and hobbies, even if it means having to watch every single match during World Cup and yes, Euro Cup.

That's because, every World Cup, he totally ignores me! Am totally a World Cup widow. Meh.

and for him: I promise to let you buy as many shoes as you want (With your own money)

Let's face it, i'm a huge shopaholic. My friends all laughed at this line. (BY THE WAY, HE LIED. DURING OUR MINIMOON TO BANGKOK, HE STOPPED ME FROM BUYING SHOES. WTF)

4) Have fun!

Most of all, do not sweat the small stuff. Have fun writing your vows! And needless to say, have fun reciting it to him/her. The first time I read his vows, I really felt like crying. Thankfully we rehearsed it (because of our unique recite to each other vows) else I might have been a bawling baby at my wedding.

5) Write it down

Even if your have a great memory, it would be best to have a hard copy just in case you get stage fright 😡 You can print it out on some fancy paper like I did, or key it in your mobile phone or even write small notes. Even if you need not use it, let's just prepare ourselves aye?

How were your vows like? Share them with me! Would love to hear them!

Before you get married, did you know that you HAVE to file your notice of marriage?

The earliest that you can file is 3 months before your intended day and latest is 21 days before your marriage. Any later? HO SEY.

Head over to the Registry of Marriage online to file online. Prepare the following items:

- 20 minutes of your time
- NRICs (for citizens) / Passports (for non-citizens) of groom, bride and two adult witnesses
- Duly completed Solemnizer Consent Form (Remember my previous post on looking for a JP?
- Credit card (Do take note that you'll have to pay a small fee!)

You'll be given a date where you'll have to head over to the Registry of Marriage to verify your details.

Remember to bring the signed Solemniser Consent Form, ICs (photocopied ICs of your witnesses are fine) of all (Bride, Groom, Witnesses) and your filing instructions.

Get a queue number and wait. As you can see from my ticket above, the waiting time is about 45 mins. Highly advisable to take half day leave :p

Once your number is called, you'll be asked to verify your details and take an oath. Yes, sumpah. Both the hubs and I were surprised we had to take an Oath (shows that we didn't do enough research) and was caught offguard.

Once it's done, you'll be given your wedding cert and a photocopied one.

DO TAKE NOTE that ONLY your JP will sign on the wedding cert. You, your hubs and your witnesses will sign on the photocopied cert. Also, take note that only black ink pens are allowed. (At that time, I was wondering if my engraved Parker pens were black ink. If it was blue, I would have bang head on the wall)

And there you go! You've done it!

All you'll have to do is: bring the original ICs of the parties involved on the day itself. Also, it would be best to call or text your JP a gentle reminder about your solemnisation details.

And it's time to rock on roll on the day!

Wedding vows, rings and ta-dah! You're married! But of course, do not forget to present a token of appreciation to your JP for taking the time to come down to your venue. (assuming you are doing it in an outdoor venue). A token amount between $50 - $100 is considered reasonable.

Most of all, have fun!
