Singapore Lifestyle Blog, Blackberry Playbook review, Blackberry Playbook video, First look at the Blackberry Playbook, Blackberry, RIM, Research In Motion, nadnut, blackberry playbook, tablets

The RIM folks were kind enough to lend me the Blackberry Playbook for a few weeks. As I was traveling quite a bit, the boyfriend had the good fortune to play with it instead.

Here's my first look at the Blackberry Playbook! Pls pardon the noob video!

I might consider doing a more in depth review, but we'll see if the opportunity arises!

Changed my phone recently. Upgraded to the Blackberry Torch 9800.

Was having mixed emotions about upgrading.. because I love my lil strawberry! (Blackberry Bold 2 9700). Am still contemplating on skinning the Torch but not sure if the effect would be nice...

Some pics of the old and the new...

Sad thing is that you can't use a lanyard on the Torch. ARGH!

The Torch is a touchscreen phone with keypad capabilities. It's definitely heavier and bulkier as compared to the Bold 2. It's currently running on OS6. iRike.

Got a new screen protector when I went to Bkk.. Say hello to my mirror screen.

My phone is now a mirror too! Woohoo! 😡

Yes, super vainpot. :X

What do you guys think? Should I skin my phone? If so, what kind of design should I get?

If you're wondering what to do or to prepare for ZoukOut, here are some tips from yours truly!

I've been to ZoukOut twice in my life and this will be my third time!

Here are some tips!

Wondering if you should drive?

There's pros and cons in driving. The main problem would be finding parking. If you really have to drive, I would advice you to go in early to find parking. Do take note that there will be at least 20,000 people and probably 10% of them would consider driving. Good luck in finding a parking lot! According to the official ZoukOut website, parking is available at:

- Beach Station Car Park
- Imbiah Lookout Car Park
- Cove Arrival Plaza Car Park

If you really really really have to drive, please carpool instead. Sentosa is charging $7 per car entry from 7pm to 7am and $5 flat for per car park entry. It makes economical sense to carpool instead and more efficient too!

If you're not driving...

Getting out of the island would be a damn hassle. If you're a Blackberry user, I would advice you to download iCabSG Singapore Cab Dialer. All of the taxi numbers in Singapore are saved in this application and there's given an option to "6-Dial-Cab" where you'll be put through to the first cab company that answers. You can also download Show Nearby. This app indicates the bus services, bus timings etc.

I believe a good place to get a taxi would be at the Siloso Point Taxi Stand which is located opposite of the Underwater World bus stop.

Wondering what to wear?

As much as it's a party, do remember it's a BEACH party. Wearing jeans and high heels ain't gonna sit well with you. If you like to torture yourself and enjoy a high from abrasions, please go ahead by all means.

My advice would to wear something comfortable. Nothing way too covered up, cause you will be sweating like mad. I would go with shorts and a bareback/tank/netted top or a light beach dress.  Seriously, go with slippers or jellies. Sand in one's shoes ain't sexeh. Unless that's your kinda thing.

Wondering what to bring?

Try not to bring way too many things. Ideally you should just bring your IC, some cash and the ZoukOut tickets. But I know that's almost impossible for a camwhore like me. I'll be lugging my (sadly) rather cumbersome G11 with cash, my IC and my mobile phone. There might be lockers around but most probably there wouldn't be many available ones and might be a distance away. Carry  a small sling bag if you really have to lug some items.

If lugging a camera is too much of a hassle for you, remember to clear some space from your mobile phone so that you can capture pictures on that day. Has anyone tried Qik Live Video Streaming? Wondering if I should consider live streaming. Hmmm.

Freebies for you? El cheapo alert.

Didja know that Crocs was giving out a party pack? Thankfully I'm on their mailing list and I found out about this great info! Woohoo! Since I'm already gonna lug a bag, a towel would definitely be handy after the party. I hear that Singtel is offering free flow between 8-11pm for the first 400 Singtel customers at the Singtel Kaleidoscope. If you're not a Singtel customer, fret not! Citibank card members enjoy 10% off tickets (if you have not purchased your tickets) and 1-for-1 drinks from 8-1opm. If you are a Citi Clear Platinum card user, you'll enjoy priority entry VIP and free flow drinks at the Citi Clear Platinum VIP marquee from 8-10pm. It's only valid for the 1st 50 card members btw. You'll get to bring a guest in too!

It would also be best to drink before heading there. Drinks there aren't cheap and from previous experiences, tend to be pretty watered down.

What if you get lost?

It would be best to discuss with your friends on a 'emergency meetup area'. Set a certain area to meet just in case you guys get separated or *touch wood* a fight happens and everyone has to clear the area. I would suggest setting 2 meet up locations. One within ZoukOut and the other outside just in case. Do take note that the lines might be jammed up and contacting your friends by mobile might prove impossible.

Wondering about the weather?

I remember Esther asking about a weather app for Blackberry. I found out a cool one called Weather Eye. But as we all know, the weather is like a fickle bitch. It would be best to waterproof your gadgets. I would be ziplocking my phone and camera, just incase!

And you may wanna consider about that white outfit just in case it rains. Unless you're wearing a nice bikini underneath of course. 😉

Wondering what time your favourite DJ would be appearing?

For the top 4 acts:

Afrojack: 11pm - 1am
Laidback Luke: 1am - 3am
Tiesto: 3am - 5am
David Guetta: 5am - 7am

Now, go have fun! If you have any other tips for ZoukOut, let me know and I'll feature them! Just remember not to get too drunk. It's not sexy when you're all wasted and not enjoying the party.

All the crazy shit I did tonight
Those will be the best memories.
I just wanna let it go for the night
That would be the best therapy for me.

See you guys at ZoukOut! WOO HOO GUETTA! <3

My favourite Blackberry apps would have to be:

1. Blackberry messenger.

I think I save a lot of money using bbm all the time! It's easy to msg/send files/ping your fellow bb users and I always chat with Ccb via bbm every day! I can't imagine bb users NOT having bbm!

2. Ubertwitter

I actually prefer this over Twitter for Blackberry. The interface is much nicer and i am very comfortable with using ubertwitter. Plus uploading pictures to my twitter is really convenient!

3. Facebook

Now I can view facebook friend's requests, update my facebook status and upload photos all via my blackberry! Only thing I dislike is that when I try to view videos, it opens up on my internet browser and i can't view it! Does anyone else have this problem?

4. BeBuzz Free

Cute little app where you can set different colours to your missed call alert and incoming calls. iRike!

5. WordPress

So I can blog on the go! I post most of my mini notes using this app!

These are my five favourite blackberry apps. What's yours? Pls share!

Pssst. Didja know that there is a South Africa on Blackberry app? You can be updated with the stats and scores for the World Cup. Good for you World Cup siaokias!
