After my ROM, the hubby and I decided to go for a mini vacation. We fondly called our little mini honeymoon as minimoon. Major one after the big AD in 2014!

The kind folks at ICON and the Sofitel group kindly hosted us for 2 nights at Bangkok and Krabi each. We extended a few more nights our of our own moolah as we felt it was really a waste to head back so soon.

We first flew to Bangkok and stayed at the lovely Sofitel So Bangkok. As most of you guys may know, I am such a HUGE fan of Bangkok. I travel there practically yearly and I love the food, the shopping, the nightlife, well basically everything.

We decided to stay at Sofitel So Bangkok because I fell in love with it's intricate designs. The location is in a rather prime central location on the corner of North Sathorn and Rama IV roads.

The hotel is known as an urban design hotel with 5 lovely themed rooms centred around the Five Elements - Water, Earth, Wood, Metal and Fire. We chose to stay in the Water Element room due to it's rather sleek and sophiscated design and it's view of Lumpini Park.

Background info of all the rooms:

Water Element: Sleek and Sophisticated
Created by Pongthep Sagulku of August Design, a veteran firm known for its sleek, timeless designs, the Water element rooms feature an onyx bathtub next to the window and marble walls with a dark and mysterious tone that dims and stills the room to absorb the striking view of Bangkok from floor-to-ceiling windows.

Earth Element: Calm and Affectionate
The Earth element rooms by Vitoon Kunalungkarn, of long-established IAW Design, are grounded in simplicity, in tune with Mother Nature, and decorated with Thai primeval wall paintings set against a ravishing blue that makes the rooms come alive.

Wood Element: Stylish and Mythical
Nithi Sthapitanonda, the award-winning founder of 49 Group, designed the Wood element rooms that invite guests to discover a fresh appreciation of wood creations. Wood and light interact to create space as art – the signature adornment being a hand sketched old Siamese mural – while the overall effect is a sense of calmness in contrast to the bustling city outside.

Metal Element: Pure and Elegant
Known for his philosophical approach in creating spaces as reflections of their locale, Somchai Jongsaeng of Deca Atelier has made the Metal element rooms simple and tranquil, immaculate spaces that are bright and welcoming through their different shades of white and sleek metallic detail.

Fire Element: Dynamic and Passionate
Rujiraporn Wanglee of PIA Interior, with over 25 years’ design experience, used the Fire element in public areas and restaurants to create dynamic space for social interaction with a sense of warmth, energy, and playfulness. Iconic among the Fire spaces is Red Oven, a showcase kitchen representing passion for the culinary arts.

I loved that the rooms are all equipped with the Apple Mac mini. As a blogger, I needed my daily dose of the internet! We also enjoyed club lounge benefits (am so spoiled by hotels that offer this!) where we enjoyed yummy cocktails and snacks. As it was afterall our honeymoon, we decided to enjoy a more laidback trip. Instead of piahing to the shopping centres, we relaxed at the Club Signature, enjoyed a very comfortable couple SPA and even went for a good meal at Park Society.

I loved the Club Signature lounge. In fact, we both practically spent hours there! The lounge is inspired by signature designer Mr. Christian Lacroix, featuring a masterpiece of Art Creation. We enjoyed all-day breakfast, snacks, refreshments, evening cocktails and a wide selection of vintage and new world wines. I pigged out like mad here. Oops.

We decided to splurge and enjoy a very relaxing couple spa session at So Spa. The place was themed as a mythological forest offered a much needed retreat. The masseuse soothed my aches and pains with her gentle fingers and the hubby was snoring in no time. We felt extremely refreshed after the 1.5 hour session!

We were also wowed by Park Society which was located on the 29th floor of Sofitel So Bangkok. Not only was the service impeccable, the food, was to die for. The steak just melted in my mouth and the foie gras was to die for. I thought it was a perfect romantic dinner there and I highly encourage anyone heading to Bangkok to enjoy cocktails and a meal there. It was a perfect ending to a perfect holiday.

If you are keen, I would highly recommend you stay at Sofitel So Bangkok. While the prices are not cheap, the service and the rooms were extremely comfortable. Super recommended for couples for romantic getaways and honeymoon! I am hoping to head back there again soon with the hubby.
