Aidan is now 11 months old! Soon he'll be 1 year old. o.O WAY TOO FAST!

Untitled

As per my usual tradition, here are some of his milestones!

  • He is able to move around with support. He stands while holding onto tables, chairs, humans. HAHHAHA. He also started to push things around.
  • Untitled

  • He claps enthusiastically now. Previous months he started doing the 'twinkle twinkle little star' motion and then pointing.
  • He has started saying mum mum, tata, baba. We're still waiting to hear him say papa and mama heh.
  • Untitled

  • He is still very vocal. He would point at things and say "EH!". He has started gesturing to things that he has queries on or things that he wants/drops. E.g. he would point at Skai walking away and go "EH!" as if to ask where is Daddy going?
  • Untitled

    Untitled

  • He is super hyper. He loves standing when he is not supposed to e.g. in baby chairs, supermarket trolleys.
  • Untitled

    Untitled

    Untitled

  • He is sleeping better at night. While he still sleeps really late, he now sleeps very deeply and does not wake up as frequently as last time.
  • Untitled

  • He has stopped sucking his pacifier to sleep. Instead he latches on me. Comfort latching. Before that, he'll bite on his teething toys.
  • Untitled

  • He is still breastfed. Looks like I'll be able to breastfeed till he is at least 1 year old! YAY!
  • Untitled

    Untitled

  • He has started giving things to people. Recently he fed me his biscuits.
  • Untitled

  • He is not afraid of dogs. Fidel brought her dog recently and Aidan was pretty indifferent to Ollie.
  • He loves touching the iRobot. However when the iRobot is switched on, he would be scared. HAHHAAH.
  • Untitled

  • He is still a very happy and cheery baby ūüôā

So, my first Chinese New Year as a parent has passed. (Last year not counted, was preggers lah, but not a full fledged mother, ya know?)

Here's the difference between before having a kid and after.

Buying clothes.

Before having Aidan:

Simply just buying clothes and 'trying' to not clash with the hubby. E.g. If he wears green, I'll try not to wear red. We don't want to look like Christmas together.

After having Aidan:

MATCH EVERY FREAKING THING! Priority was Aidan. Finding clothes for him etc. I chose a red plaid shirt with jeans for him. After that, I chose an outfit to match him. DID NOT INTEND TO HAVE A FAMILY THEMED OUTFIT.

But the hubby felt left out and went to go buy a red plaid top. JIN KAYPOH SIA.

Getting ready.

Before having Aidan:

It used to take an hour max for us to get ready. One hops into the shower first, the other snoozes. After that, all rush to get ready and we can leave immediately.

After having Aidan:

Everything that can go wrong, WILL go wrong. Alarm set to go off at least two hours before we're supposed to leave the place.

Unfortunately when the alarm goes off, Aidan decided to latch. for a long time. After latching, tried to go bathe him, he cried. Have to pacify him. Play with him again. Finally can bathe him.

Dressed him up, bow tie too tight. Remove bowtie. Put aside watch for him to wear.

Took turns to shower while ensuring Aidan is in a good mood. Packed diaper bags and double check, triple check that nothing is left out.

About to head out, Aidan decides to latch again. Delayed. Aidan latches while mama cradles him. Daddy looks annoyed.

Finally after Aidan is done, we rush to the door. After locking the gate, we smelled something funny. Went back in. Poonami. Changed diaper.

Rushed out. Forgot the damn watch. Reached in-laws place an hour late.

Visiting.

Before having Aidan:

Relatives hinting/nagging about having kids.

After having Aidan:

Relatives loving Aidan and keeps carrying him, playing with him, smiling with him.

Small talk.

Before having Aidan:

Awkward conversation, small mundane talk. Stares at tidbits when there's nothing much to say.

After having Aidan:

Uses baby to make conversation. Uses baby to distract.

Angbaos

Before having Aidan:

Gives all the angbaos to all the kids, unmarried people etc

After having Aidan:

Collects some angbaos back. FINALLY! Relatives laugh when Aidan picks up the angbaos himself. I DID NOT TEACH HIM THAT!

Overall, this year Chinese New Year was extremely pleasant. Maybe because of the fact that we have Aidan, he was quite well-behaved.

But I know things will change. More questions will be posed to us in future years and Aidan will be running around like the monkey he is.

How was your Chinese New Year? Here are some pics we took this New Year!

Aidan is a perfect 10! hahaa I meant, he has turned 10 months old! Here are some of his milestones!

Untitled

  • He is a champion crawler now. Once he sees something that he's interested in, he'll crawl really fast to the item. Commando standard yo!

Untitled

  • It's a little bit better with the carseat now. There are times where he wails, but there are times where he just 'endures' the car rides.

Untitled

  • He is really very inquisitive now. He loves looking and touching at things. Unfortunately, the distract method does not work on him anymore. When we pry the item out of his clutches. he cries like mad.

Untitled

  • He has learnt to point. He now gestures by pointing at things. Randomly.

Untitled

  • He is still exclusively breastfed and is still a champion latcher. There are times where he bites me. :'(

Untitled

  • He is quite vocal now. He would coo and make the cutest baby sounds and gabbles at times. He also cries loudly at times when unhappy or if he wants to be carried.

Untitled

  • He has mastered the grouchy and pouty look much to our amusement though most of the times he's pretty much a smiley baby.

Untitled

  • We brought him to the public pools recently. Though he seemed a bit apprehensive at first, after that he really enjoyed himself.

As some of you guys may remember, I talked about my love for babywearing a few entries back. Babywearing is easy and convenient. When I'm going out alone, I need not face the hassle of struggling with a stroller. Imagine taking a cab with a stroller and a baby. Holding the baby while folding the stroller and putting into the boot. Errr. I'll definitely be damn kamchiong.

Babywearing also means I get to be handsfree. I can carry Aidan easily while shopping etc. Honestly babywearing helped me so much especially during my maternity leave when I was alone.

Especially now that Aidan finds it hard to keep still in a stroller, babywearing is a must-have.

During my pregnancy, I had researched on a number of carriers. I liked the idea of woven wraps and structured carriers. After observing many of my mama friends, I realised that Tula was a favourite amongst mamas.

I bought one way before Aidan was born. That was how kiasu I was.

Fast forward and Aidan was born and I tried Tula. Honestly the first time I tried it, I wasn't so sure. I confided in a few mama friends that I wasn't sure if I was doing it right. I mean, I've seen pics and videos but I wasn't sure. They brought me to Bumwear at Plaza Singapure and the lovely ladies helped me adjust my carrier. I finally found what was making me uncomfortable and from there, babywearing was a breeze with Tula.

In fact, I love Tulas so much that I bought 4. Two canvas and two woven conversions. Hurhur.

Soon I began joining the Tula community on Facebook and joining both the Jujube and Tula gatherings.

When I got wind that Bumwear was organising a gathering with Ula (founder of Tula) who was coming to Singapore, I was excited. Managed to sign up for a slot to meet Ula herself. *fangirl moment*

It was lovely meeting other mamas and exchanging tips. Also gawking at the lovely Tulas from the lovely mamas.

I also loved seeing the other fellow papas babywearing. One thing that I'm really glad is that Skai is really supportive of babywearing. He also volunteers to babywear Aidan too!

It was also nice to finally meet Rita from Bumwear who was the main reason Ula came down to Singapore!

Also spot the lovely Jujubes at the event. Tulas and Jujubes go so well together!

I was crazy enough to sign up and pay for two session to meet with Ula! The first one was a cosier session with Tula Love Stocking Buddies where I used my wc Beluga Arctic. The second was a more casual setting where I decided to dress down and use my first canvas Alpaca Hearts with my customised accessories! Spot my love dinosaur hoodie!

Babywearing days are short and I hope to babywear Aidan as much as I can. I've yet to master latching in the Tula but I hope one day I will!

It's crazy but I'm eyeing more Tulas! Like a mesh... and perhaps a fancy?! hahhaa.

None of these were sponsored. All of my Tulas and Jujubes are paid by myself. Not even by Skai. I genuinely love the products and the community.

Hope to go for more Tula and Jujube events!

My little grumpy cat boy is now 9 months old!

Here are some milestones and updates of Aidan!

  • Aidan has went for his first play gym trial! He's pretty indifferent to it but we think it'll be a good opportunity for him to socialise and have fun!
  • Like last month, he can stand assisted. He can stand for a longer time now and enjoys walking around with support!

Untitled

Untitled

  • Baby led weaning is a success this month! He is beginning to take more now. We have fed him fruits such as apple, pear, mango, watermelon, honeydew, avocado, banana and vegetables such as carrots, sweet potato, broccoli. He has also taken chicken, salmon, pasta, egg yolk so far!
  • His bottom two teeth is out! He isn't as cranky as last month during his teething period however he still enjoys biting everything he can get his hands on.

Untitled

  • He still has a bit of separation anxiety, so we make sure to let him know we are around. Sometimes he cries when he wakes up alone. Oops.
  • His eczema is still around. The stubborn red mark on his left cheek is still there, like a birthmark. However it isn't as bad as last month. *fingers crossed*

Untitled

Untitled

  • He has the silliest sleeping positions and is a deep sleeper. The other day, he flung his leg over Skai's face. Oops HAHAHHA.
  • He hates the carseat with a vengeance and wails now whenever he straps in. Feels weird that it's happening now as he was fine with it for the last few months.

Untitled

  • He now knows to "gesture" to us. For example he'll "wave" to us by opening and closing his palm.
  • He is still exclusively breastfed. He latches way more these days and he seems to be latching for comfort. I'm fine with it as I really do enjoy latching and the precious moment with him.
  • He greets us with the sweetest smiles and he just makes my heart sing every single day.

Happy 9 months old my precious.
