21 on Rajah offers Mediterranean cuisine alongside other local favourites at very competitive rates. I loved the decor! The bird cages and the bright colours really suited the restaurant!

Chef Paul Then, the Director of Culinary Operations at Ramada (upcoming hotel!) and Days Hotels Singapore at Zhongshan Park sat with us and shared with us on each respective dish.

Chef Paul was extremely charismatic and it’s evident that he is extremely passionate about his food. The hubby and I really had a great time chatting with Chef Paul and we enjoyed the food. Here’s our thoughts on the respective dishes!

We were served with bread to start. On a side note, i totally killed my low carb diet that day. :p

I really enjoyed the Crostini of Smoked Eel. Some may find the smoked eel a tad salty but I thought it went really well with the bread!

The Grilled Chicken Satay in Balinese Spices was average to me, would have preferred if it was a bit more burnt like the traditional satay sold outside.

I thought the Prawn and Bacon Roll was extremely delicious! Love the little burger skin garnish. The marriage of prawn and bacon was a delight in my mouth!

Stewed Fillet of Danish Cold Water Halibut “Lisbon Style”. Generally I’m not a big fan of fish but I thought this dish was very well prepared! There wasn’t a strong smell or aftertaste and it was rather light to me!

The Marseilles Seafood Bouillabaisse. Again, as I’m not a fan of seafood, I took very little of this soup. The hubby happily gobbled up my share.

The Moroccan Harira with Chicken and Garbanzo Beans reminded me of a funky Nasi Briyani for some reason. I loved the spices used! And unlike Nasi Briyani, it wasn’t too heavy to me.

My personal favourite would have to be the Jumbo Prawns with Dill and Saffron Paella. It wasn’t overwhelming and I couldn’t stop myself from scooping more and more of the lovely paella!

And now, to desserts!

The Pannetonne Bread and Butter Pudding with Dates was average because the Dark Chocolate Fondant with Raspberry Coulis totally stole the spotlight! I’M A HUGE FAN OF CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE! And this was the bomb! Not a huge fan of the marshmallow topping, I chucked it aside while I dug into the lovely cake.

It was definitely a great dining experience. Highly recommended for those who wants to try affordable Mediterranean cuisine or basically want something different and yet safe for a change.
