I love coloured hair. I go from extremes. Previously I dyed safe colours like light brown, dark brown and then I tried red, milk tea to drastic black and even bleached my ends with extreme bright pink dip dye before! I really love changing my hair colour all the time. It’s not that I don’t like the colour of my hair that I was born with (in fact, it’s dark dark dark brown and not drastic black) it’s just that I get bored all the time. I mean, friends know I hardly wear the same thing when I’m going out (work ain’t counted), it’s because I get reallllly bored and I need change in my life. In fact, my first dye job was a diy one. I bought peroxide, 6% if I remembered correctly over the counter in one of those pharmacies and just bleached my hair.
Pure madness. I wasn’t educated on what should be used and thought peroxide would just suffice. Needless to say, it soon spoiled my hair. SAD LIFE!!!!
In any case, I soon became wiser. And I’m here to introduce a brand new product from L’Oreal Paris which is definitely safer for your hair unlike my little peroxide episode.

Sounds good to me! I love the fact that they coupled giving great shine coupled with nourishing hair! I wouldn’t want to compromise my hair condition just for a nice colour and I love that the formula includes collagen! I thought it was really cute to include collagen into hair products. I for one, is CRAZY over collagen. I have taken so many different types of collagen for my skin in the past year. Must have for a bride to be! I decided to give try shade 5.13 the Ashy Nude Brown which is a rarely seen colour in DIY hair dye.

First step! It’s important to protect your hair from any damage from colouring! Remember my peroxide incident? I didn’t protect my hair back then and it TOTALLY killed my hair! I had to chop it off sadly. 🙁 Listen up boys and girls, protect your hair. YOU MUST PROTECT YOUR HAIR. AUNTIE NADIA SAYS SO. JUST LISTEN TO ME!
I know my hair ends can get really dry but thankfully with L’Oreal’s pre-serum which contains protective ceramide, I’ll be able to minimise the damage to my hair!
I applied the Protective Pre-colour Serum on my hair ends!
Step two! In order to achieve it’s vibrant colour with brilliant shine, you’ll need to mix the Protective Creme Colourant and Creme developer to form the rich and intense colour hair dye.
Shake the bottle vigorously to mix it thoroughly!
It’s time to put on the gloves! While it might feel a bit clumsy using gloves, (my mum hates wearing them! She skips the gloves) I always use the gloves to prevent staining of my hands and nails! Gotta protect the lovely manicures heh!
Here comes application! For me, I needed to touch up my roots so I first applied it on the roots before applying it to the rest of my hair.
I first used the applicator tip to apply on my roots, left it on for 20 minutes before applying to the rest of the hair using the comb applicator. I find that using the comb applicator makes it really easy to apply the dye!
Also, here’s a tip! It would be easier to section your hair and apply by layers. That way, you won’t miss any parts!
Step 3! Leave it on 45 minutes!
Step 4: Wash it off! Make sure the water runs clear. I don’t understand how some people can just wash “anyhow-ly”. Can you imagine all the stains you’ll be having on your pillow or clothes? Wash your hair thoroughly!
Apply the Protective Conditioner after washing and rinse it off!
The final result!
I love how vibrant the colour is! Not only is the colour one of my favourite shades, I thought that the smell wasn’t strong. You know how certain hairdyes stinks like mad? Ecks. Luckily L’Oreal’s doesn’t! There was also no sting at all on my scalp!
