[Invited Food Tasting Event]

Carrie, Esther and I were invited by Food News and The Missing Pan for a food tasting event. Fidel was also invited but at the eleventh hour, she couldn’t make it.

The Missing Pan is tucked in a little shophouse in Bukit Timah. Don’t be fooled by it’s exterior like I did! I saw an organic bakery on the first floor! Upon going in, i realised that the brasserie was located on the second floor. It’s an extremely cozy and private dining area. Perfect for romantic dates and if you prefer a bit of privacy with your friends. Good place to catch up! The Missing Pan can only offer a 26-seater capacity.

Since its opening in November 2013, The Missing Pan has won over many with its refreshingly innovative modern cuisine and organic artisanal breads. Continuing the approach of serving “belly-warming” and “mood-lifting” meals, The Missing Pan recently introduced new gourmet mains and sharing bites that are perfect for savouring with good company over dinner.

Sharing Plates

All of us loved the Chorizo Fiesta ($10++) which was a dish that consisted of spanish pork sausage, dried chilli, gherkin, black olives. It’s a little tangy with some spice for an added kick. Good dish to whet your appetite for more!

Honestly, I wasn’t such a huge fan of the Chargrilled Squid ($12++) which was marinated in The Missing Pan’s hush hush spicy seasoning. I guess it was more of a personal preference? I prefer my squid more crunchy HOWEVER, I have to say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE their special sauce. SUPER SHIOKADOO!

Mama mia! The Mushroom Quesadillas ($18++)  was so good that all 3 of us were practically trying to snatch the last slice! I love that the quesadilla was crispy and contained ingredients such as wild mushrooms, capsicum, spanish onions and mozzarella! One of my favourite dishes of the night!

As someone who LOVES risotto, I was pretty stoked to find out that we would be tasting two of them from The Missing Pan!

The first was the Smoked Duck Risotto ($25++) which consisted of key ingredients such as cubed smoked duck breast, semi sun-dried tomato, hojimeishi mushroom and baby spinach.

The second was the Crab Truffle Cream Risotto ($28++) which had the blue swimmer crab, semi sun-dried tomato, baby spinach and truffle oil.

I personally preferred the Smoked Duck as I liked the texture and it didn’t feel that jelak as compared to the Crab Truffle. Definitely recommended to share else you’ll suffer from carbo coma like I did!

The German Baby Back Ribs ($36++) was extremely delightful to look at with it’s flame grilled, glazed ribs with signature bbq sauce, fries, mesclun salad all neatly stacked. I’m not a huge fan of ribs as mentioned in my numerous food reviews, however I’ll have to say, this wasn’t too bad. Perhaps that the portion wasn’t too huge and that it wasn’t super duper sweet. Love the fat fries!

Desserts

I couldn’t touch a thing after the mains but the girls tried the desserts! They had the following:

nadnut

Frozen Honey Nougat ($12++)  which consisted of pistachio nuts, dried apricots and meringue sticks.

nadnut

Bread & Butter Pudding with Vanilla Crème ($8++)

nadnut

Caramel Chocolate ($7.01++)

Pleasure ($8.50/slice) – Milk chocolate, dark chocolate cream, hazelnut & feuilletine

Drinks

You’ve probably know the Brothers brand by now. Had a bottle of Brothers Pear Cider ($13++) to help wash everything down. Super refreshing!

Esther and I shared the Peanut Butter & Banana Milkshake ($9++) which was extremely sinful! Although the two ingredients are supposedly heavy, I didn’t think it was too overpowering.

Great experience with my girls! 😉

Did I enjoy my overall experience at The Missing Pan? Definitely. Would I come back again? Well, if someone is driving then yes! A bit far for this eastsider leh. HAHHAHA

But yes, great experience! Definitely worth going 🙂
