My new toy! The Ukulele!

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

I was never musically inclined, I always joked to my friends that I was tone-deaf, well actually I am not tone-deaf, just that I sing really horribly and basically, I can’t really carry a tune.

What possessed me to purchase a Ukulele?

To be honest, it was for frivolous reasons. It was cute, it was quite affordable and it was an impulse buy. The boy was riding to Moon Hotel for my birthday staycation then when I saw Ukulele Movement. (This is not an advertorial)

Explored the shop and I fell in love with the Watermelon Ukulele but it was not a feasible choice, it was >$100 and I couldn’t justify buying that to the boy.

My 28th birthday celebration.

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

I had to work that day as I had a lot of work outstanding after my Taiwan work trip a few days before my birthday.

Imagine my surprise when I received a bouquet of flowers!

I didn’t think it was ChingChongBoy at first as I had discussed with him earlier and emphasized not to buy any flowers this year i.e. save more moolah for marriage.

Turns out that the boy still wanted to surprise me. A lovely bouquet for birthday and vday. LOL!

Had a lovely birthday lunch with the colleagues at Soup Restaurant as I was seriously craving for the damn yummy chicken. They must have added something addictive into the ginger cos I crave that every other week!

Outfit of the day: The birthday “suit”.

Well, i wasn’t dressed in a suit suit but I wanted to call this outfit the birthday suit as it was after all my birthday. So there.

I knew the boy was going to bring me to an extremely delish dinner and I dressed the part.

I wore a loose fitting dress at the tum tums area and accessorized accordingly. I stuck to mainly black and red items, very simple and nothing too outstanding.

I paired the off shoulder dress with my favourite pair of black wedges, a white collar (recent purchase in Taiwan!), good old Tiffany and Co bracelet, my FCUK watch and simple silver earrings.

A closer look at the collar…

Simple DIY nails for Vday.

Monday, February 13th, 2012

Spotted these nails in Tumblr and I decided to try it out.

Very simple and easy to do (for one hand). I had used a clear and simple base and used a nice sparkly red to do the “curved heart” here.

The only problem? While I could do it easily for my left hand (I’m right handed), I couldn’t do the same for my right.

In the end, I removed the nail polish and painted my nails one single colour. Ah well. At least, I tried.

Wah lao eh! Another year closer to the grave. MEH!

I’ll be turning 28 in a few minutes time and I ain’t looking forward to this. (The only “cool thing” is that I’m turning 28 on 2/8. HAHAHA, February 8th, geddit? lol)

Yes, age is just a number but it just scares me to see how fast time passes by. Have things changed? Have I wasted yet another year of my life? I always dread writing the yearly birthday posts.

As per my yearly tradition, it’s time to summarise my life into one post to see where I’ve failed and where I’ve succeeded.

Studies: I’m done paying for my study loan. HELL YEAH! Can’t believe that I’m actually considering going for a Masters degree.

Work: It would be almost a year since I’ve been with Asiasoft. Am currently in Product Marketing. Job has it’s own set of challenges, enjoyable so far but I am not going to get myself comfortable. Never believe in being too comfortable in a job as I feel one tends to be more complacent. Well, that’s just my own way of thinking.

Family: Same old, same old. Things have been much better for the past year. Hope things will be better. Am afraid to see my parents age.. and well, lose them someday. Baby Boy left us recently and to be honest, I haven’t really come to terms about it. I am still in denial and honestly, I do pretend as if it never happened. It’s been hard, way too hard. But I guess, that’s the easier way out for now.

Love: Biggest change ever. I am engaged! o.O We started having talks with our parents on weddings etc and it is scaring the shit out of me. We agreed to settle on a ROM in 2014. Any earlier I’ll probably go crazy. I am ready to spend the rest of my life with Ching Chong Boy but not now now now. LOL.

Health: I actually completed a half marathon last year! Another milestone! Time to cut the weight. I got a 2 years mission. It’s do or die time!

Friends: Again, off with the toxic friends. Am comfortable with my current set of friends. :)

Blogging: It’s been a quiet year. Nothing high profile for the past year. Have started doing tutorials so far and I like it, will probably increase them. ;)

It’s been a year of milestones! I have cleared off my study loan debt, gotten engaged and completed a half marathon. Here’s hoping turning 28 will mean bigger and better things for me. ;)

Thanks to everyone and anyone who has wished me a very happy birthday. As mentioned every year: birthdays just symbolises another year closer to the grave (to me). So love like you have never loved before, eat like you have never eaten before, live life like every day is your last.

Much love,
nadnut

I lost my furry companion yesterday.

Monday, January 30th, 2012

We’ve spent more than 7 years with this grouchy looking kitty who has a shoe fetish and it’s so hard to let go.

I really miss you so much Baby Boy. Rest in peace my love.
