2014 is coming to an end. In a few days, we'll be ushering in 2015. Have you guys thought about what you've done in 2014?

For today's Monday's Musings, I'm going to "throwback" major events (good and bad) in my life in 2014!

1. Held our Chinese Wedding Dinner (i.e. Traditional banquet) on a special day: 1st March 2014 i.e. 1314!

I loved planning for the celebration and I loved how it turned out. Of course, there were hiccups here and there but I'm glad and love how it was executed. No bridezilla moments, no dramatic family nonsense etc. Murphy was kind to me that day.

2. Chopped off my hair

I went from this.

To this

To this. Chopped it all off! Bigger hair change for the past 5 years of my life.

3. Spent 21 days in Europe for our honeymoon

Spent a lot of money but it was all worthwhile. It was a great experience for us!

4. Gained lots of weight.

Untitled

Damn pui liao. Have yet to return to the weight prior my initial weight-loss but woah. I gained plenty after the wedding. Mainly due to the pigging out of carbs during the honeymoon. I've also returned to eating carbs (i.e. not controlling my diet) and been rather lazy about exercising. Need to piah again! And yes, picture above shows the fatty cheeks AND the intake of carbs without any restraint. But honestly, kinda bo chup about losing weight liao. I went all hardcore for the wedding actually. Oops.

5. Adopted a cat.

Miu Miu at the vet earlier. Poor boy was terrified.

Say hello to Miu Miu. I have a furkid again! My last Cat passed away a few years back and we've finally reopened our hearts and homes to another cat!

6. Changed jobs.

Some of you guys may know that I was in Product Marketing in a Gaming company for the past 3.5 years. Left in July and joined a Creative Advertising Agency as a Social Media Manager. New industry, new role. Tons to learn. Hope it goes well!

7. Had a UTI

Fell sick. Was down with flu. While sick, developed a UTI. Mainly due to the lack of consumption of water. I am actually a water barrel. SUPER PAIN SIOL. Even had blood lor. Zzzzz

8. Changed my (last) name

Got a deed poll done. Removed Malay "Surname", took Dad's Chinese Surname instead. Now to get the IC done and the other paperwork out of the way.

????????????

That's the 8 Major Things That Happened to Me in 2014. How was yours? I'm looking forward to 2015! I foresee more exciting times ahead! Our Punggol BTO will be ready then and we'll have a place of our own! Been slowly researching about Home Decor and Renovation (what a huge headache!) and will document our experiences!

I would love to thank everyone for being supportive of www.nadnut.com. You've followed my journey from the frivolous camwhoring days to getting engaged to losing weight to planning for my wedding! I have never regretted blogging as I loved sharing my experiences. It's more of a Nadia's Lifestyle Blog rather than a Singapore Lifestyle Blog. LOL.

This is a Monday's Musings - Random thoughts, feelings and musings by Yours Truly entry under my themed blog posts! For more info about the themed blog posts, do read the entry here

I think most of my Monday's Musings entries comes from real life experiences. When irked, amused, I think it makes good content for Monday's boliaoness posts. These are all true experiences where I faced during dating then engagement till marriage life.

Today is Skai (aka chubby aka chingchongboy) and my wedding anniversary. We're actually in Cebu now but I scheduled this entry.

Happy anniversary baby!

Friends have asked me, why did I choose to get married, whether if I knew if he was the right one and why did I love him.

In my Monday's Musings style, I decided to list down the reasons why I love him! (after all, for my gatecrash, the girls asked him to list down reasons why he loves me!)

Untitled

1. He is extremely loving and sweet to me. Despite being together for more than 5.5 years, we are still extremely lovey dovey to each other. I feel happy and pampered with his gestures (not necessarily romantic all the time!), his sweet words and his love for me. I know that he loves me and I can feel it.

Untitled

2. He is extremely supportive of whatever I do. Blogging is a huge part of my life and i'm glad he is willing to be a part of it.

Blogger events, he'll accompany me if I asked him to. He'll take pictures when I need him to. He has never complained over me dragging him for the numerous events nor the hours I spend on blogging. In fact, he sometimes suggests content for me and even share my posts for me. (I never asked him to do so!)

Untitled

3. He indulges me. He knows that I have an unhealthy obsession with traveling and Singapore Staycations and yet he supports me if I choose to travel. E.g. Beijing, he accompanied me for my blogging trip to Beijing because I really did not feel comfortable going alone. Though he has suggested we cut down on our holidays and staycations once our BTO is here, he has also agreed that it is not unreasonable to set aside moolah for 2 good trips and 2 staycations a year. 😀

4. He makes me laugh.
All the time. Sometimes he does the silliest things randomly. I feel happy with him and definitely more carefree.

5. He makes me feel strong. He makes me feel that I can do anything with his support. He gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. It's really nice finding that one life partner of your dreams and knowing he loves me as much as I love him. He makes me want to be a better person.

I was chatting with Yutakis one day and talking about photoshoots when he asked why I had not posted my pictures from the pre-wedding shoot I had in Korea. Oops! Guilty!

Personally, I thought the editing was a bit too fair but they convinced us that it is their style of editing. In any case, it was a fun experience. I actually wanna do another shoot (not in Korea lah. $$$) but a thrash the dress session. Would be fun!

Apologies for the lack of entries, am currently facing some issues with my home broadband AND home phone line and have been internet-less for a while. Hoping this can be resolved ASAP! Have typed this entry on my phone thus the lack of pics.

I'll like to share some things that irritated me before and during the wedding.

Pre-wedding:

- It's pretty understood that couples would check on their guests' availability before the wedding. Once they have given their FINAL confirmations, we will then send the printed invites. Confirmation of number of tables is done like 1 month before the wedding. Usually you can't modify drastically after that.

I had guests who backed out after receiving the invites despite confirming with me MANY TIMES before that. 2 weeks before the wedding, i got a "we can't make it" sms from a whole family despite confirmations earlier. Reasons given sounded like excuses too.

And mind you, these are couples who have had held their wedding before and should jolly well understand the trouble of confirming the number of tables AND table arrangements. Of course, there are reasons that are understandable like work and sudden worktrips but for some with barely a sorry... Wow. Much appreciated. Tsk.

- Self invitations. This is not a buffet or a clubbing session. If you put the couple on the spot by asking them if you are invited, don't be too hurt if they say no. Or would you rather we tell that dear old grand auntie of ours to give up her seat for you?

- Plus ones. Believe us, if we can extend an additional space for you, we will. I have gracious friends who totally understand about going alone and even made arrangements to "dump" their bfs at home and go together. Thank you, you and you.

Actual day

- No shows. It would have been nice to at least inform or pass on the message that you are unable to attend. All it takes is a text. I can't believe it but i had to ask M a month after my wedding what happened to him. Thanks for letting me know, NOT!

- Sudden +1s. At 6pm, i had a text to ask if it's possible to bring two more guests. Like i said, it's not a clubbing party where there is a guestlist. When prodded, said person didn't share who were the guests, so i said no. I am not gonna shuffle my guestlist 1 hour before my dinner for people i do not know. Come on lah, where got people ask to bring guests and refuse to say who? AND.. Please do not do such a thing to a couple, 6pm, we were rushing to change, prepare for our tea ceremony and have no time to deal with this guessing game.

Another incident was when a friend suddenly brought a plus one cos she thought she rsvped for two. Please check your invite, and yes, your sms. I was MADE to go in before my entrance (-_-) to check on this because the hotel staff and my reception folks do not know who is that person. I don't blame them for asking me to check, cos seriously, how would they know right?

- Changing seats. The couple usually plan their table arrangements as best as they can. We usually plan to fit 10 a table. While they are some mixture of guests (there is no way possible to invite strictly in group of ten), we ensure that you are placed with someone you know. Trust me.

I had a guest who REFUSED to sit at her table cos apparently she didn't know ANYONE there. Okay, you VVIP. It's YOUR wedding and apparently where you sit is more important than anything else. Thankfully my bridesmaids rectified this. And yes, my table of 10 and 11 pax became 9 and 12 pax. Wedding couples would understand this situation.

To me, the pekchekness came from all of these human created drama. To other couples, maybe the angbaos were the main "issue" but to us, it was actually the unreasonable "demands". Well, all we can say is that you really can tell a person's true colours from this. And yes, we have stored this in our "blacklist".

Fuck the angbaos, weddings are never about breaking even or making a profit, to even receive anything is a true blessing. To us, we didn't want to scrimp and save on the silliest things. We saved enough to cover most expenses and i'm glad we splurged (within reason, of course!) We never wanted to look back and say "i wished i have done it differently".

Other than that, we were happy and touched by the amount of people who attended our wedding and wished us well. We wished that we had more time to catch up and talk. Thank you for making time to be there with us for our special occasion.

And yes, more pictures will be up once i've gotten my internet back.

To all future brides, have fun planning your wedding! And if you have any questions, please feel free to ask this "graduated" bride!

Choosing the evening gown was really difficult for me due to my size! I had so much difficulty choosing the gowns and truth to be told, I wasn't so sure about my shortlisted gown.

But of course, that changed when I found my actual gown 2 weeks before #nadskai1314!
