[Product Review]

As parents, Skai and I can hardly travel "handsfree" anymore. We have to pack the whole house lots of items when we travel out with Aidan.

I love my diaper bags, I really do. But there are days where we just need to carry a simpler design of bags that looks well.. more adult like. LOL.

When the kind folks from Gaston Liga backpacks decided to hook Skai and I up with some sweet bags, we were excited! To be exact, Skai was EXTREMELY excited. He wasn't a huge fan of my big pink and girlish diaper bag and he would rather pick something more versatile.

Here's Skai's backpack of choice.

He chose the Classic Black Black backpack. He loves how simple and classy it was. And when we are not with Aidan, he also carries this bag for work/outings.

While the backpack may look small, it still packs a bunch. For a typical day out with Aidan, Skai packs a changepad, diapers, wet wipes, a bagful of Aidan's toys. The essentials.

For me, I prefer something preppy. So I can look younger. HAHAHAHA.

I chose the Praper in Navy and Brown. For me, I usually pack Aidan's food and drinks e.g. his porridge, water and snacks.

Skai also looks great with this design! Definitely an unisex design and colour!

I gotta apologise for being so tardy with blogging. Sadly I hardly have the time to blog anymore and am pretty much tired. Most days I go to bed cuddling my hyper active son although I tell myself to go blog after his bedtime.

Here are Aidan's milestones since hitting 16 and 17 months old!

  • He is extremely energetic. He is still a night owl and sleeps super late at night. While we have tried to sleep train him, it is really tough. I also think it's because we get home so late after fetching Aidan from my MIL's place (with the obligatory stay there and chit chat for a while because Skai says it is not a hotel where you pick and go). Aidan would of course like to spend some time playing with us. We tried to minimise playing so as not to hype him up some more. Mums guilt also kicks in cos we hardly get to spend time with him  except for weekends :/
  • A taste of the upcoming terrible twos. When we take away things from him, sometimes he goes into a full blown meltdown. While we were able to distract him previously, it is tough to do so now. Unfortunately for him, we usually stand our ground and not give in to him.
  • Speech is still slow. Aidan is one of those kiddos who walks before he talks. He is a great walker but not so much of a talker. He babbles a lot but hardly speaks. He tends to be repetitive with his words e.g Papa, Ball ball, bao bao. He did say Mama previously but recently he calls me Baby. HAHHAA. A typical day where we read books to him, we will say 'Zebra!' and he will reply 'Ball ball!'. Every animal to him = ball ball. LOL.
  • He plays favourites. At my MIL's place, he tends to stick to my in-laws because they basically give in to him. At home, at night, he would try to stick to me. The other day at night, I tried to pass him to Skai to carry but Aidan only wanted me to carry him.
  • Recently he keeps waking up at night and because he only wants me, I recently hard to stay up in the middle of the night coaxing him. 2 days of 2am - 5am sleepless nights. GG MAX.
  • Persistent latcher. I tried to slowly cut down on latching at night but it's tough. He ONLY wants to latch even if we offer a bottle or fresh milk.
  • Extremely happy and friendly. He loves people. He would go up to people and make friends.

We will be going for our first cruise as a family next week and I can't wait to see how Aidan takes to it! Especially with the Dreamworks characters! I love this stage, as it's super fun playing with him. It is also very tiring but it's all worth it 🙂

Time passed by way too fast! Aidan is now 15 months going 16 months old! His milestones has not differed much but here's a brief recap!

  • He is extremely curious! He loves touching every single item and also walking around to look at things. He also points at things and looks at us!
  • He hasn't learn much words however he likes to babble a lot. It is so adorable when he does so!
  • He still loves to walk! It's tough babywearing or carrying him now as he wants to explore things.
  • He is much stronger than me when it comes to injections. He has his chicken pox vaccination and didn't make a single sound when they jabbed him.
  • He is very helpful now! Sometimes we will point at things and ask him to take it to us and he does!
  • He is now very clingy and loves to cuddle me out of the blue!
  • When we tell him to find papa/mama, he really does so!
  • He still loves to ransack things like digging out things from boxes and throwing them around.
  • He still loves to latch! Although I tried introducing fresh milk to him recently, he rather latch than drink it. I believe it's a comfort thing haha.
  • He is extremely friendly and loves making friends from kiddos to adults.

Honestly I love this stage with him. It is so fun interacting with him and i love how manja he is! He is especially very clingy to me rather than Skai at this stage. I know that most kids take turns being close to one parent, so I'm just enjoying this stage! hehehehehe.

I had the opportunity to experience a stay at Oasia Residences a few months ago. This entry came pretty late as most of you guys may realise, I have cut down on blogging these days. Mom life hitting me hard. Working AND mom life hitting me hard. 😮

The room was comfortably furnished with a bed, kitchenette, washer and a living room area and was spacious. I liked that the living room area was separated from the main bedroom. Skai could work on his laptop with the lights on in the living room while I could have the room dim to pat Aidan to sleep.

We checked in on a weekend and we decided to make full use of the facilities. We first went to the nearby supermarket and shopped for ingredients to prepare for dinner and also prepare Aidan's meals.

We also made full use of the facilities. Skai went for a jog in their fitness centre and we also brought Aidan for a dip in their indoor pool.

[Sponsored Advertorial]

When I was pregnant, I had a few scares. It wasn't an easy pregnancy. The one thing I remembered very strongly from what my gynae said was.. "You'll never stop worrying as a parent."

And that stuck throughout with me.

I was worried during my pregnancy. I was worried when giving birth. I was worried when I didn't have any milk and was struggling to latch him. I was worried when he first flipped and slept on his belly. I actually stared to make sure he didn't suffocate himself. LOL.

Untitled

I was worried when he first puked. I was worried when he first fell off the bed. And pretty much cried as I felt like a bad mom. I was worried when he first had eczema. I was worried when he first had a mosquito bite. Feared and googled for signs of dengue.

Untitled

I was worried about hand, food and mouth disease and pretty much sterilised every baby chair we used. I was worried when he first had a fever from his vaccination. I was worried for every single bump and bruise he has.

I was worried whenever he has a cold or a cough. Last weekend, he fell sick. He had a fever and a drippy nose. I was worried for every single hour he was crying.

Untitled

I will never stop worrying because that's how we, as parents are built to function. We will continue to worry for every single day. Even when he grows big, when he starts school, when he first goes out on a date, when he first goes to school alone. It is just how we are built. As parents, we will never stop worrying.

Untitled

We can never ever be prepared. No matter how much we can prevent and prepare ourselves, shit happens. Like I mentioned, I always sterilise every single baby chair that I use outside. I hardly let Aidan around anyone who is sick. If a friend's baby is sick, I would not even meet my friend incase she passes something to me and then me to Aidan.

I breastfeed Aidan for a very selfish reason - for his immune system. And of course for that bond we have while latching.

I am THAT kiasu mum who tries her best to prevent and protect Aidan. Right after I gave birth, I called my insurance agent to come visit me at the hospital to sign some policies for Aidan.

While I can never prepare enough for him, I'll try my hardest to protect him for the future. As best as I can.

Health care costs have increased over the years. Did you know that based on a research study from the Life Insurance Association, an average working Singaporean would require at least S$626,000 to meet their Protection Needs? o.O.

Together with Tokio Marine, I would like to introduce you to two insurance products to help prepare us and protect parents like us.

Tokio Marine (TM) Term Assure

This is mainly to protect parents like you and me. It is a basic and affordable term plan that provides significant lump sum payout upon death, terminal illness and permanent disability. If you are between the ages of 25 to 35, you can have half a million dollar coverage with a 5 year plan for less than $1 a day!

Once you are covered under TM Term Assure, you can opt to add on KidAssure GIO Rider, a rider that provides protection to your kids.

Untitled

KidAssure GIO Rider

This covers up to 24 medical and hospitalisation conditions such as Severe Asthma, Leukaemia, Severe Autism, Burn, Choking, Dengue Fever, HFMD, Measles, Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Rabies and even Zika.

What makes this rather interesting is that you'll only need to pay premiums for 5 years and coverage will be up till your kid is 19 years old. At the end of term, you'll get 80% back of the total annual premiums paid for the rider! It costs as low as S$1 per day for a ride sum assured of S$50,000 and it is a guaranteed acceptance rider, without any medical underwriting needed.

Here's an example:

If you purchase KidAssure GIO Rider for your 6 year old son, the annual premium will be S$350 for a rider sum assured of S$50,000. You'll pay for 5 years which is equivalent to S$1,750. When your son reaches 19 years old, you'll be refunded S$1,400.

Sounds good? It does to me! If you'll like to find out more about these products, do visit Baby World 2017 from 30 June - 2 July at Suntec City Exhibition Level 4 from 11am to 8pm as there will be a Tokio Marine booth (K15)! There will be fun and games too!
