I first heard about D'Elegance Shapewear during one of the prenatal talks I attended back when I was pregnant with Aidan. I got a set of the long vest and girdle and have been wearing it ever since! Well, till I got pregnant with Davina that is.

I had wanted to share my experience with D'Elegance (seeing how many mamas like me are struggling with their postnatal bodies) but honestly I totally forgotten to do so till recently one of my mama friends shared that she visited D'Elegance.

Here's my honest review on my experience with D'Elegance. D'Elegance is a Singaporean shapewear brand conveniently located at International Plaza.

I spoke to my consultant Angie who shared that the USPs (unique selling points) of D'Elegance compared to it's competitors.

  • As D'Elegance is a Singaporean brand, the shape wear is specially catered to the Asian physique.
  • Also bearing in mind, D'Elegance knows Singapore's climate, they developed this special technology called WinCool that makes use of light, cooling and airy fabrics suitable for our very warm and humid climate.
  • While D'Elegance's price point is more on the higher side, it is because it is long lasting, doesn't stretch (with proper care) and will last you for at least 3 years which is pretty much 6 times longer than other such products in the market.
  • Also with a boutique, you can try D'Elegance shapewear and see which is more suited to your body type. Time is saved as compared to blind buys. Fitting sessions are also free (for a limited time currently), without any obligations!
  • Each consultation is a comprehensive discussion and fitting service to help one find what suits best.

I took a look around the boutique and Angie shared the various products to me.

One of the more popular items as it helps to maintain one's posture and also tuck in the tummy. Angie shared that this was a hot favourite with cabin crews, make-up artistes and breastfeeding mamas.

The bodysuit is D'Elegance's superstar item. It helps work against gravity to help prevent sagging and is very suitable to sleep in. With the open bust design, it is great for nursing mums when paired with nursing bras. It also helps to 'hide' the unsavoury lumps especially for postnatal mamas like me. Basically it helps firms up the tummy, lift up the butt and hide the bulge from popping out. I have this piece and I wear it with my bodycon dresses all the time!

Untitled

A personal favourite of mine as it's the most comfy item for me! It's easy to be slipped on and helps with thigh shaping, tummy slimming, waist shaping and most importantly improving ones posture. For the ultimate combo, I use the bodysuit with the long girdle!

If you are a fan of shorter hemlines, the short girdle is the one for you. Same as the Long girdle, it helps tucks in tummy and lifts the butt.

If you are looking for something to focus on the tummy without the straps, the waist slimmer will be your product of choice. Use it with ease with your tube/offshoulder tops. Another hot favourite for postnatal care, it helps to provide support for the back while taming the unruly tummy. Bonus: You get a great posture! it also helps with hip shaping!

Last but not least, the only item I didn't manage to try as I'm still breastfeeding. Their bras help with an instant bust life, reduce saggy boobs and also gives maximum support for the chest. It also helps with back smoothening.

The items I got two years back were the Bodysuit, Long Girdle and Short Girdle. They have lasted for more than 2 years and served me very well. Here's an example of the difference with wearing shapewear and without.

Do take note: Shapewear does not help with weightloss nor is it a miracle product. Shapewear helps shape back the body and improves one's posture.

To really reduce weight, you'll have to diet and exercise! Shapewear are my go to for body hugging dresses and to improve my posture. Especially for caesarian mamas like me, I need help keeping the pooch in!

As you can see from the images above, D'Elegance shapewear (I wore the long girdle and bodysuit) helps to 'hide' unsightly lumps like my mumtum.

Thank you D'Elegance for the great experience back then and now! I actually went back recently to have a look and see if I need to get new items! I'll definitely be wearing them when I head back to work soon!

As a parent, I try my best to source and search for products that contains as little chemicals and are more natural as possible for my baby. Also coupled with the fact that Aidan has eczema makes me more cautious of most products.

When I was introduced to ecostore, I was intrigued by the fact that this New Zealand brand produces healthier and safer products for people by using plant and mineral based ingredients. They also shared that some of their customers' eczema, dermatitis and other allergies had actually improved (and some even totally disappeared!) after using ecostore products!

Aside from that, ecostore products use only sustainably sourced ingredients that are not only safe and kind to us, but also kinder to planet earth! Personally, I like the fact that their products do not contain harsh chemicals and harmful ingredients! Good for me, baby, everybody and the environment! Sounds like a win-win situation! I love the whole concept of supporting the environment in a very easy and fuss-free manner.

ecostore has recently launched their baby care range which is marketed as helping babies get the best start in life with plant-based products that we can trust. One of the reasons it's so important to take extra care is that babies are more vulnerable to the harmful effects of the chemicals used in products as their skin is thinner than an adult’s, and the protective barrier of their skin is still not fully developed.

The ecostore products that I received were the:

IMG_1729

ecostore baby shampoo: A nourishing shampoo to gently cleanse baby's fine hair and sensitive scalp, retaining the moisture and leaving it soft, shiny and protected. The baby shampoo contains a delicate blend of lavender and geranium oils for a beautifully soft, clean fragrance.

IMG_1728

ecostore baby body wash: Gently cleanse and condition baby's skin with the body wash – a mild alternative to soap. The plant-based ingredients used in the baby body wash match the oils and amino acids found naturally in babies’ skin.
IMG_1727

ecostore baby sleepy time bath: A soothing plant-based infusion with a gentle blend of lavender and geranium oils to add to baby's bath water to get them ready to sleep!

IMG_1726

ecostore baby moisturiser: Softens and conditions baby's skin, protecting them from dryness and irritation. With a soft natural fragrance of lavender and geranium. To be massaged onto baby's skin after their bath to help prevent dryness with its nourishing blend of olive, jojoba and coconut oils in a shea butter base.

We used the products recently while bathing Aidan!

As we were preparing for his bedtime, we used the ecostore baby sleepy time bath. Simply squirt a small amount will do!

Also shampooed his hair and used the body wash on him.

And finally we used the moisturiser!

I like the scent of their products honestly. Very soothing and sweet smelling. Aside from that, it feels good using products that are good for Aidan and the environment.

And what does Aidan think about the products?

I think he thinks they’re delicious. HAHHAA.

As some of you guys may know, Aidan is exclusively breastfed. And for us breastfeeding mamas, be it low supply or oversupply, any wastage is painful.

There are days where our babies may drink lesser than normal which will result in wastage of breastmilk. Most would chuck it away.

For me, I really bu shi de to throw. So I save the leftover milk. I've sent my expired milk to made into breastmilk charms and also into breastmilk soap. But there is always wastage accumulating.

Once in a few weeks, I would prepare milk bath for baby Aidan using the expired milk.

Untitled

I would fill about 450ml and dilute with warm water. Reason being, Aidan usually takes baths in this bath tub. I've seen other mamas not dilute their baths with water but I've yet to try that.

Untitled

Take note that there is usually a very strong fishy/metallic smell especially with frozen breastmilk.

But it's worth it! I personally feel and noticed that Aidan's skin is more radiant and softer after each bath. But of course, it doesn't last forever lah. You'll need to constantly bathe in breastmilk.

So mamas with expiring breastmilk, don't chuck it away! Use it for breastmilk baths!

I'll be writing a 4 piece series with Philips Avent in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Week in August.

This is my final piece: Transitioning back to work. Have you read the first few pieces? I wrote about my pre-preparation for Aidan's arrival, bringing Aidan home and a dad's role.

I won't lie. Going back to work was hard. The first day I left Aidan, I cried. Honestly, I hated going back to work and being apart from Aidan.

It is still hard but it's much better now. My last piece will focus on how I managed to transition back to work.

Pre-preparation.

16 weeks of maternity leave is way too short. Seriously. In the beginning, Skai and I thought of sending Aidan to my MIL's place (she will be the primarily caregiver while I'm back at work) a week before I started work so that it would be easier for me to be apart from Aidan.
