I gotta apologise for being so tardy with blogging. Sadly I hardly have the time to blog anymore and am pretty much tired. Most days I go to bed cuddling my hyper active son although I tell myself to go blog after his bedtime.

Here are Aidan's milestones since hitting 16 and 17 months old!

  • He is extremely energetic. He is still a night owl and sleeps super late at night. While we have tried to sleep train him, it is really tough. I also think it's because we get home so late after fetching Aidan from my MIL's place (with the obligatory stay there and chit chat for a while because Skai says it is not a hotel where you pick and go). Aidan would of course like to spend some time playing with us. We tried to minimise playing so as not to hype him up some more. Mums guilt also kicks in cos we hardly get to spend time with him ¬†except for weekends :/
  • A taste of the upcoming terrible twos. When we take away things from him, sometimes he goes into a full blown meltdown. While we were able to distract him previously, it is tough to do so now. Unfortunately for him, we usually stand our ground and not give in to him.
  • Speech is still slow. Aidan is one of those kiddos who walks before he talks. He is a great walker but not so much of a talker. He babbles a lot but hardly speaks. He tends to be repetitive with his words e.g Papa, Ball ball, bao bao. He did say Mama previously but recently he calls me Baby. HAHHAA. A typical day where we read books to him, we will say 'Zebra!' and he will reply 'Ball ball!'. Every animal to him = ball ball. LOL.
  • He plays favourites. At my MIL's place, he tends to stick to my in-laws because they basically give in to him. At home, at night, he would try to stick to me. The other day at night, I tried to pass him to Skai to carry but Aidan only wanted me to carry him.
  • Recently he keeps waking up at night and because he only wants me, I recently hard to stay up in the middle of the night coaxing him. 2 days of 2am - 5am sleepless nights. GG MAX.
  • Persistent latcher. I tried to slowly cut down on latching at night but it's tough. He ONLY wants to latch even if we offer a bottle or fresh milk.
  • Extremely happy and friendly. He loves people. He would go up to people and make friends.

We will be going for our first cruise as a family next week and I can't wait to see how Aidan takes to it! Especially with the Dreamworks characters! I love this stage, as it's super fun playing with him. It is also very tiring but it's all worth it ūüôā

I changed. Or at least, I think I've changed.

Birthdays used to be a big thing for me. I love celebrating my birthday. I love celebrating my partner's birthday. As superficial as it sounds, I love being pampered.

When I first started dating Skai, we celebrated every single birthday. Celebrations could range from an extravagant day out to a comfortable and relaxing staycation to a very indulgent meal.

A typical celebration would be a staycation or a good buffet/steak dinner. Sometimes we go for holidays but it's pretty hard to do so for my birthday as it's always close to CNY or Valentine's day i.e. overpriced air tickets.

Last year, we celebrated with a home cooked meal by Skai as I was heavily pregnant. It wasn't the easiest pregnancy by then so I tried to stay home as much as possible.

This year, Skai asked what I wanted to do.

Instead of celebrating me, I wanted to celebrate Aidan. I requested a shoot for Aidan on my birthday. I think Skai was pretty surprised by my request but he agreed.

Though we did enjoy some couple time when Aidan was asleep heh.

But the best time was when he was awake.

I guess, I didn't need any birthday celebrations because Aidan is the best birthday present ever.

But of course, beef comes a close second. Heh. ūüėČ

Time passed by way too fast! Aidan is now 15 months going 16 months old! His milestones has not differed much but here's a brief recap!

  • He is extremely curious! He loves touching every single item and also walking around to look at things. He also points at things and looks at us!
  • He hasn't learn much words however he likes to babble a lot. It is so adorable when he does so!
  • He still loves to walk! It's tough babywearing or carrying him now as he wants to explore things.
  • He is much stronger than me when it comes to injections. He has his chicken pox vaccination and didn't make a single sound when they jabbed him.
  • He is very helpful now! Sometimes we will point at things and ask him to take it to us and he does!
  • He is now very clingy and loves to cuddle me out of the blue!
  • When we tell him to find papa/mama, he really does so!
  • He still loves to ransack things like digging out things from boxes and throwing them around.
  • He still loves to latch! Although I tried introducing fresh milk to him recently, he rather latch than drink it. I believe it's a comfort thing haha.
  • He is extremely friendly and loves making friends from kiddos to adults.

Honestly I love this stage with him. It is so fun interacting with him and i love how manja he is! He is especially very clingy to me rather than Skai at this stage. I know that most kids take turns being close to one parent, so I'm just enjoying this stage! hehehehehe.

As some of you guys may know, I pretty much live breathe Jujube! And with every Jujube Tokidoki launch, I go gaga.

The recent Sea Punk collection was no exception! I have decided to do a series where I will share about each and every Jujube style.

For today's post, I will be sharing about the BFF which is one of Jujube's hottest item: The Jujube Sea Punk BFF.

The BFF is a very versatile bag from Jujube. It could be worn backpack style or messenger style. Here's how I pack the Jujube BFF for a day out!

Untitled

I usually use a variety of items to pack my bag. Here I use the large Be Organised set, a Be Quick, two small Set pieces and a medium Set piece.

Untitled

  • For my Space Place medium set piece, I usually pack with toys to keep Aidan occupied. I have a rattle, a toy trumpet and a lil car for him.
  • In the Quick, I pack stuff for his meals e.g. Cutleries from BBox, a Space Place Be Neat and a change of clothes incase things get messy.
  • In the Large Be Organised, I pack diapers and wet wipes from Nateen.
  • For the Ukk2 small set piece, I pack puffs and snacks in a small container for him.
  • For the Out to Sea small set piece, I pack stuff for me, like tissue paper, lip balm etc.
  • I also bring along a water bottle which I use the BFF bottle pockets to store.

The BFF is big enough for a day out. I usually bring bigger backpacks like the BFF and BRB for longer days while I would use a Hobobe or Be Sporty for shorter days out.

Here are some pics of the Jujube Sea Punk BFF!

Aidan is now 14 months old! Time is passing by way too fast and I'm just grasping at my little baby as he's turning into a big boy now.

Aidan's milestones does not differ much from when he was 13 months old.

  • He still has an unhealthy obsession with remote controls. He would try his very best to grab them and press all buttons as fast as possible.
  • He still says Ball Ball a lot. Second favourite word is Papa papa. He has said Mama but in extreme cases. Like when he wants to latch.
  • He is extremely active and persists on walking around a lot which is probably why he has lost weight.
  • He basically loves to ransack things like digging out things from boxes and throwing them around.
  • He is extremely inquisitive. He would fiddle with things or point at items and go 'eh' as if he is asking about them.
  • He still sleeps pretty late but he knows how to self soothe. Latching makes him sleep earlier though.
  • I am still breastfeeding him. He loves to latch. It has pretty much become comfort latching but it's very useful in cases where he is sick or afraid.

I love every moment with him. He is extremely cheeky and interactive at this stage ūüôā
